The aim of INDEPENDENT is to enable plug-and-play development and deployment of Customer and Aggregator Energy Management Systems (CEMS & AEMS) in buildings and industrial facilities to facilitate market adoption of demand-side flexibility services.
To do so, the project is building an easily integrable software platform with packages for development, deployment and secure operations of Customer and Aggregator Energy Management Systems, including also an investment analysis tool.
Integrated Development and Operations Platform
Customer Energy Management Package
Modules for automated integration with smart appliances and energy management systems, automated resource modelling and forecasting, control algorithms to support optimisation targets (local optimisation, implicit and explicit control) and user interfaces.
Aggregator Energy Management Package
Modules for aggregating and managing flexibility from CEMS, tools for probabilistic forecasting of prices, aggregated demand and flexibility, market interfaces & optimisation models for multi-market operation and secure customer data management.
DevSecOps & Investment Support Package
Modules for automated deployment, security and operations of CEMS and AEMS, secure data sharing and governance and investment analysis tool.
Two-phase pilots
Demonstrations in Finland, Slovenia, Germany and Sweden
In the first phase, the project will develop a platform prototype that demonstrates Customer & Aggregator Energy Systems in operational environments.
The goal of the second phase is to demonstrate and qualify the market readiness, scalability, and replication potential of complete platform-based systems.
